Every six months Oke Nollet head of the Pergo design department gathers all her impressions and influences from fairs, Pinterest activity and everyday life into an extensive trend report. One of those trends is very clear: stone as a look is still very strong.
The industrial look in interior design has been around for a while now and whilst we aren’t all lucky enough to live in an old converted warehouse that is brimming with authentic industrial elements, there are ways to give your projects a distinctly urban feel.
One of the easiest ways to achieve an industrial look is to use industrial materials. Concrete is an obvious choice and in recent months we have witnessed a huge rise in the use of concrete in interior design. Many designers are now using concrete in unexpected and unusual ways and it would seem that there is nothing that can’t be made using this versatile material.
Next to concrete there’s a trend in homeware which is having a major style moment, and it’s popping up everywhere we look, it’s sophisticated, it’s easy to incorporate and it’s ideal for those with a penchant for minimalism. It’s marble; a statement trend which looks stunning with copper or rose gold, two other materials enjoying the homeware limelight right now. There are many wonderful things that can be said about slate tile, about how durable it is, how great it looks, and how versatile it can be.
Today, slate is popping up everywhere, and homeowners are discovering a myriad of uses for the attractive stone.
