Blijf Actief Wonen is a home modifications service specialising in modifying homes for disabled people and senior citizens, allowing them to continue to live in their own homes for as long as possible. The showroom in Bruges (Belgium) was recently transformed into an shopping experience centre where customers can explore a wide range of home modifications firsthand. Pergo's practical but also very aesthetic commercial vinyl floors played a key role in the transformation.
“Some people think their home will end up looking like a hospital room when some of these modifications are put in place”, says Jean Paul Lefebvre, manager at Blijf Actief Wonen. “However, we want to show people that these modifications can be stylish as well. So we decided to turn our store into an shopping experience centre. After 25 years, it was due for an update anyway.”
The partition walls made from wood scaffold planks and the Pergo vinyl floors help create a pleasant shopping experience.
“Customers can explore the various displays and discover all the options available for bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and living room modifications”, Jean Paul continues. “The partition walls made from wood scaffold planks and the Pergo vinyl floors help create a pleasant shopping experience.”
“Choosing Pergo vinyl flooring was an easy decision”, says Jean Paul. “Its soft structure does more than just dampen the sound of heavy footsteps. We were also looking for a hard-wearing floor designed to withstand intensive use. The store gets a lot of foot traffic, including crutches and wheelchairs. Pergo vinyl offers the ideal solution: it's very hard-wearing, water-repellent and resistant to dents, scratches and stains. All these qualities help keep the floor looking as beautiful as the day it was installed. And that’s exactly what we wanted for our demo area.”
The services offered by Blijf Actief Wonen are not only aimed at individuals, but also at businesses. The organisation has partnered with social housing companies, property developers constructing serviced apartments, and residential care facilities. “We used five different Pergo vinyl floors to showcase as many structures and designs as we could”, Jean Paul explains.
“For the ground-floor shop front, we selected Grey Chalet Pine, a wood floor finish featuring realistic knots and cracks. Elsewhere in the showroom, we used Black Scivaro Slate and Light Grey Travertine. Both floors have the look of ceramic tiles, but differ in colour and structure. The Black Scivaro Slate has a more classic and elegant appearance, while the Light Grey Travertine gives the showroom a trendy and modern touch.”
“Upstairs, we used two types of Pergo vinyl flooring with an oak finish. For the demo office, we selected Modern Nature Oak, a contemporary and natural floor with an untreated look. The demo meeting room was fitted with Modern Grey Oak for a fresh, Scandinavian-inspired look.”
These Pergo floors have made such a difference. They really add to the stylish look and feel of our store
Jean Paul and his team are extremely happy with the result. “These Pergo floors have made such a difference. They really add to the stylish look and feel of our store”, Jean Paul smiles. “Customers love to take their time to look around now.”
